What I'm reading right now.

I imagine this blog as a way of expressing my writing life and keeping people up to date on how my next novel is progressing, and how soon the first will be out in print. But there is no denying that I am no longer just a writer.  I am a teacher of yoga and meditation and it has just as much prominence in my life as writing does, and I'm certain my writing reflects my change of life and change of heart that came with learning about the yoga lifestyle, then teaching it and finally becoming the means by which a community can accept yoga through our Studio. So many of my entries will be on writing, but some will be on mindfulness, yoga and digging to the the light that's been covered over but is there in all living beings.

Suddenly I've gone from either exclusively being a yoga teacher or exclusively sitting home and writing - to sharing my day with both. So right now I am frantically trying to finish the Complete Guide to Yin Yoga for a three day teacher training starting this Friday. And I'm studying a fascinating 1936 guide to The Syrian Desert; Caravans-Travel Explorations complete with trade route maps and detailed descriptions of desert caravans as research for Sulis' travels in her desert home. And heaven help all my yoga students if I get the two confused.

My first time on a press release. The Sand Sifters is listed with the group to be released in the next year. Look at the beautiful covers! Can't wait to see what artists do with the feli and Sulis of Sand Sifters!  Even with the excitement, got in 1,466 words today on Sand Cast.

Writing again

Writing at the Studio, after teaching Gentle Yoga. Not as big a block of time to write, but a good beginning on getting Sulis to stop feeling sorry for herself and introducing Grandmother Hasifel as a real character. Rewrote some of Chapter One - I find that it is important for me to reread what I wrote the last time and add to it before starting on new material.

In another line of crazy - I was just added and created a log-in for a "BootCamp: digitalDish" project for HarperCollins Avon and Voyager writers. I am a part of a project team: one that by the email addresses seems to include Robin Hobb, Ilona Andrew, Vicki Pettersson and other authors I have read again and again. Whew. It really seems to be happening. Looking forward to actually getting my paws on the contract. It's been very surreal, like a dream. But sometimes it's the dream where every thing is golden and even butterflies adore you and land on your shoulders, and sometimes it feels like  that dream where you're mistaken for a rockstar and stuck on stage with a mic and all that comes out of your throat is "uhhhhh" as the crowd looks on.
